A pleasant evening with Metheringham WI

Tonight we entertained the Metheringham WI. It is the first time in a couple of years and it was a very enjoyable evening.

We were warmly welcomed and were very well looked after with Tea and biscuits.

I took a moment to take a few photos of Nigel and Teri singing School Days Over.

We’ll be back returning to Metheringham in June for the Jubilee Celebrations and we are looking forward to it!!

We’re playing at The Day of Lincolnshire Folk 2012

We have been asked to play a set at the The Day of Lincolnshire Folk 2012. The event is in it’s third year and will take place on Sunday, 5th August 2012.

It isn’t efinte yet of exactly when we’ll be playing but there are many other groups/bands also playing throughout the day.

Woodhall Spa Country Show – A great day out for the family!

Not only is it a good day out for the whole family but it is also where you will find us! We will be playing a couple of sets through out the day. Hopefully entertaining the passers-by.

Sleaford Live in full swing

Sleaford’s Annual Festival of Live Music and Arts has started and saw the Sleaford Little Theatre’s Youth Drama putting on their rendition of Peter Pan and a Band Night at the Sleaford Cricket Club featuring Whisky Wild Eyes, Andy Santon and Bear Makes Ninja.

Sleaford Live is a festival of music and arts that takes place annually throughout the first week in May. The events range from theatre productions, photo exhibitions and busking to rock bands, choirs, folk and brass. If it’s live, it’s okay !! The event is coordinated by volunteers who put together a programme funded from adverts placed by local businesses.

Local duo appear on Folk Radio UK and release new album

Local folk duo from Sleaford, Winter Wilson, have recently taken some time out to record a session for Folk Radio UK. One of the tracks A Miller’s Life, is from their new album called Footprints. Ceilidh at Lincoln Minster School

On Friday 9th Feb we had the pleasure of playing a Ceilidh for some of the students at the Lincoln Minster School. The students and staff got stuck in and were extremely energetic to say the least.

We were joined by Tom Lane who played Guitar and called the Dances for us.

I know when I say this that I am speaking for the band that it was a brilliant evening and enjoyed every minute. Thanks for having us!

NB – Teri and I saw this painting on the wall however we thought it wouldn’t be prudent to steal it off the wall so I took a photo of it instead. It is an ace painting!

A new member of the Stepping’ Stones Family

We have a new member of the Steppin’ Stones family. Today Nigel was treated to a new Sandpiper Accordeon which we have decided to name Sally.

I must say the instrument has a gorgeous rich sound and is quite a good looking machine.

We have a couple if public gigs coming up so check out the live dates for that.

First gig of 2012

We had our first gig of the year on Saturday 7 January 2012 and was a tremendous success. It was our second visit to the Widower’s Club and was as brilliant as the first.

The ladies were up for a spot of dancing so we got them barn dancing and then they boogied the night away to some 50s, 60s and 70s contemporary songs.

The evening wasn’t without its troubles. We had a string blow out just before we did our sound check and I took this sneaky photo of Knokka re-stringing Penny (the tenor guitar).

It was a great start to 2012 and we hope to have more like it!

2011 comes to a close

It has been one hectic year yet again and have successfully had as many gigs as last year. We have had some great gigs this year which have been very memorable and will stay with us forever more.

Currently as it stands 2012 is looking to be another busy year with hopefully (and finally) the release of the third album, which we are very excited about.

THank you to everyone who has supported us and asked us to play at their event. We couldn’t do it without you.

We hope you have all had a fab Christmas and will all look forward to a positive and prosperous New Year!!

St Hughes Catholic Church

Yesterday evening we entertained historians and archeologists at St Hughes Catholic Church in Lincoln.

We were supported and joined by Tom Lane and Anne.

It was a very enjoyable evening and we got some great feedback from people.
